- This was given to explain Eric Kaplan's deadpan introduction.
- This episode of The Scary Door is comparable to five episodes of The Twilight Zone.
- There was going to be a show within Futurama based on Zapp's life, with Zapp having editorial privileges.
- They discussed the fact that there's a scientific explanation for reattaching body parts.
- Pointing out themselves in the internet, noting that Matt Groening got out of it.
- Cohen was pleased by the robotish lines from Lucy Liu and points out that the Liubot like other robots has square pupils.
- Cohen was also pleased to record the "you're cute" scene with her in Billy West's absence.
- Confusion over why the video appears to be set in the 1950s.
- Had to show that robots dating humans was taboo, and that it wasn't just men that did it.
- Notes that the ships destroying the planet are the same ones from the pilot episode.
- They wanted an episode with the Space Pope, but couldn't get around to it.
- A brief explanation of the napster issues, and that the actual company has one 'p' while they have two in the show.
- They later remind viewer of the fact that the robots are covered by holograms, rather than robots actually looking like celebrities.
- They note Lucy Liu recorded other lines for a future episode, but they weren't sure what the episode would be or what she would end up saying, so they recorded generic lines.
- Lucy Liu apparently joked about animating Futurama in Korea if her acting career didn't work out.
- The group (mainly Cohen) continued discussing the number of 3D popcorn kernels required after the episode had finished, leaving the viewer watching a blank screen for about 30 seconds.
Highlights / Quotes
- David X. Cohen: Is that original too, or is that based on something?
Eric Kaplan: The story of Eva Braun actually having a fly head?
David X. Cohen: No, the design of Hitler.
Eric Kaplan: That's designed on that dictator, Hitler. - David X. Cohen: When in doubt put in a crazy sound effect. Beats good writing.
Goofs
- The commentators note the error of the extra alternate universes in The Farnsworth Parabox, fans have ignored this goof claiming that they didn't exist until the episode in question.
- The popcorn scene is said to be the biggest mistake of the series.
- No glass in the window of the projector and the popcorn shouldn't come out of the bag like that or filled the entire theatre.
